First off this is just another story of politicians doing what politicians do. Second this is a politician from Louisiana. One of the oldest corrupt states in the Union. Third this is a politician from New Orleans. Probably one of the oldest corrupt cities in the United States of America.
With that said, I lived of course my last 3 years in Louisiana and I have to say I have not looked back. Also, I would probably not be where I am at today, if I had stayed. Let me also say it is a great place to visit, but the Parish of Orleans or even the surrounding areas are probably not all that great if you are in the technology business.
Anyway, back to Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA). From this ABC story we learn what happens when politicians take FULL advantage their position allows, legally or not. From the first graph of the story makes it clear.
Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.
Now all of this will come as no surprise to any of my friends and family in La.. After all this is the state that elected a known and eventually convicted crook, Edwin W. Edwards, 4 times.
