Katrina Cost Far Less Than Expected

As was probably expected by even the ones who originally estimated the cost of Katrina,
in turns out that it will end costing
far less
than was originally thought.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal government’s tab for hurricane relief and rebuilding
efforts is likely to come to less than $150 billion, Congress’ top budget analyst
said Thursday. That would be far less than original estimates made just after the
storm.

Now the original way off base estimate was 300 - 400 billion.
