Journalists Lose Again

From USA Today: Journalists again lose appeal in Wen Ho Lee lawsuit

WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided federal appeals court for a
second time has rejected four journalists’ appeal of a judge’s order directing them
to testify about their confidential sources as part of nuclear scientist Wen Ho Lee’s
lawsuit against the government.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit refused, by a 4-4
vote, to grant a rehearing of the journalists’ case before the full court. A majority
of the court’s 10 judges was required to grant a rehearing; two judges recused themselves.

So here’s a thought. Should journalist be allowed to hold in confidence sources that
obviously got it wrong.

According to the report private information was given to reporters about Lee which
lead to Lee being charged and his good name being dragged through the mud. Eventually
59 charges were dropped and President Clinton apologized for the whole mess. He was
actually charged with one felony count of mis-handling nuclear weapons information.

Here are the reporters listed at the bottom of the report.

The reporters are H. Josef Hebert of The Associated Press, James Risen of The
New York Times, Robert Drogin of the Los Angeles Times and Pierre Thomas, formerly
of CNN and now of ABC. The court’s decision was released Thursday.

Seems like the cream of the crop of the main stream media to me.

Why shouldn’t these reporters be forced to reveal these folks the led to all of this?

UPDATE: I realized that I spelt Journalist wrong in the title and just could not let
it go and had to change it.
