Political Progressive is not What You Think
I used to think that someone calling themselves a progressive was a good thing. The definition of progressive seems to be quite positive. But when it comes to being a political progressive it is quite a different thing all together.
From FrontPage Magazine: The Real Meaning of “Progressive” Politics
So great was this fear of the individual that John Dewey believed that the “mere absorbing of facts and truths is so exclusively individual an affair that it tends very naturally to pass into selfishness.” “Progressive education” was developed to meet the individualist threat on the juvenile level, while Progressive collectivization of the economy would meet it on the adult, with the first targets being those unregulated monoliths of “economic power” — the corporations.
So the way I see it now is, Liberals that now want to be called Progressives are still socialists and collectivists, still bad for America and still cannot be trusted. A liberal by any other name is still a liberal or worse.
Don’t trust a liberal ever. All they ever want to do is raise your taxes, take away your individualism, independence and make you forever dependent on government. They feel they know what’s best for you, better than you do and you should trust them because they know what’s best.
Like Rush has said often, liberals want their good intentions to be judged not the horrible results of those intentions. Just think about Social Security, Welfare and the War on Poverty. Just look at how those have turned out.
Speaking of Social Security, the first recipients of benefits at the time it was implemented are the only winners of this horrible entitlement program. They never paid a dime into it and got the most out of it. Everyone else since has been getting less and less every year since. Only government could run a program so badly.
