Marion County Special Election

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Well today we had a special election in Marion County to elect the replacement for Julia Carson (democrat).

Jon Elrod is the young Republican running to replace her and running against Andre’ Carson the democrat and Sean Sheppard the 3rd party guy.

I voted for Jon and was glad to do so. Now if a majority of others did the same thing to keep from electing the grandson of the late Julia Carson, that would be grand.

Here’s hoping.

The results can be found here.

As of the post, here are the results:

............Jon Elrod.....Andre' Carson......Sean Sheppard..........pct rpt
 7:00 pm...........42................32..................4..........( .45)
 7:30 pm.........1588..............1421.................93..........( 6.29)
 8:03 pm.........3901..............4370................232..........(18.65)
 8:30 pm.........7127..............7854................466..........(27.64)
 9:03 pm........11882.............12598................779..........(42.70)
 9:29 pm........15101.............16989................955..........(52.13)
10:01 pm........18064.............21152...............1191..........(61.80)

UPDATE: Well that is it for tonight. I will check back in the morning and hope for the best in my dreams.

UPDATE II: Andre’ Carson Wins and I lose. Will try again in May and November. I wish I could do more to support the candidates but alas I cannot.

I Voted for Greg Ballard

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Well, I did my part. I voted the Republican Ticket.

Here’s hoping they all get the big win later tonight. I will be watching.

Greg Ballard for Mayor

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Hey, I saw my first Greg Ballard for Mayor today. Good thing and good timing. It is really only the last few days that matter and the majority really start paying attention. All of the damn ads that Peterson has been running have just been a Gold Mine for TV, Radio and Print.

I also saw some good bumper stickers today for Greg Ballard and against Peterson and the tax increases because of him. It indeed made my smile to know that I am not the only one feeling like Peterson needs to go.

I received an email today promoting Greg Ballard and asking to go to his web site to volunteer to man phone banks to get the word out this weekend. I wish I could do it, but my two tax credits come first.

Bart Peterson’s Tax Increase

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

This past Friday was the first Friday that the Bart Peterson Tax Increase for Emergency Services for areas that don’t have the tax base to support it, so increase the tax on everyone in Marion County to pay for it, because Bart Peterson is a democrat and does not know how to cut spending, went into effect. I feel quite safe and as far as I am concerned not in need of this extra service. But I certainly noticed a significant portion of my paycheck missing because of this increase.

As long as a democrat is Mayor I am sure I will never see that portion of my pay check again. That is why it is so important that we elect Greg Ballard as Mayor this November 6th and get Bart Peterson out of office.

Oh in the event that you came across this post for whatever reason, I am pissed because Bart Peterson raised the Marion County Tax from 1% to 1.65% and I want him out of office. Thanks for stopping by. Come back anytime.

If you would like to read a better post than this on the subject, go here.

Good News for Greg Ballard

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Well if the poll from the Indy Star is any indication, and I have my doubts, we just might have a horse race on our hands.

I think it is time for a change. Bart Peterson needs to be put out to pasture, and Greg Ballard is a nice fresh horse to put in the race.

Vote Greg Ballard for Indianapolis Mayor November 6th.

I am against Bart Peterson

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I don’t like him. I don’t trust him. He has raised taxes. He does not take criticism. He is a typical liberal democrat and it is time for him to go.

I will be voting for and supporting Greg Ballard along with Hoosiers for Fair Taxation.

Gov. Mitch Daniels Property-Tax Reform

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I am all for consumer based taxes. If I have to pay a higher Sales Tax to pay lower Property Taxes, let’s do it!

It is more fair and shares the burden of taxes more equitably throughout the populist.

GOP leaders sign on to new tax plan

Senate President Pro Tempore David Long, R-Ft. Wayne, and House Minority Leader Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, both emphatically endorsed Gov. Mitch Daniels property-tax reform plan today.

In a Statehouse news conference, the Republican leaders called Daniels’ proposal the most important property-tax reform since the 1970s. Both Long and Bosma also announced they would seek to jump-start the legislative process required to pass the governor’s plan, which would permanently cap property taxes through a constitutional amendment.

Now let’s hope that they can actually get something done. Faster the better.

Happy Labor Day

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

This Labor Day marks the “2nd Annual Milby Family Labor Day Cookout and Festival”. Just as with last year the only invited guests were the next door neighbors and their kids.

New this year, we had it in the front yard between the two houses, and red white and blue balloons were added. Just as in last year Italian and smoked sausage, hamburgers, kosher hot dogs, roasted corn, sodas and beers were enjoyed. This year, M&M’s, bread sticks and cheese sauce, roasted potatoes, chips and salsa and jello cups have been added.

Next year I look forward to adding a bounce house for the kids and inviting more friends.

Indy Air Show Photos

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Second year in a row going to the Indianapolis Air Show and for the second year in a row, me and the boys had a great time.

The difference this year is that we actually saw The Blue Angels and they were great.

So here are some photos of the day.

Support The Troops Hog Roast

Benefit to aid local soldiers hurt in Iraq

A hog roast and picnic this weekend will benefit two local servicemen injured in Iraq.

The Sertoma Club of East Indianapolis is sponsoring the “Support Our Troops” event at 5 p.m. Saturday. The event lasts until 9:30 p.m. it’s being held at Camp Sertoma, a 33-acre site at the northwest corner of Brookville and German Church roads in Indianapolis.

Lt. Col. Alex Murphy, returning from his own tour in Iraq, helped organize the event, said Don R. Miller, a Warren Township resident and Sertoma Club member.

“He wanted to have a homecoming for veterans,” Miller said. “Along the way, we ran into these two fellows who have been in really bad shape, and we combined the thing into a combination homecoming and fund-raiser.”

Sounds like I might have to attend this.
