Still Smoking After All These Years

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

It always warms my heart when I come across stories like this.

100-year-old celebrates her birthday by smoking 170,000th cigarette

An iron-lunged pensioner has celebrated her 100th birthday by lighting up her 170,000th cigerette from a candle on her birthday cake.

Winnie Langley started smoking only days after the First World War broke out in June 1914 when she was just seven-years-old - and has got through five a day ever since.

She has no intention of quitting, even after the nationwide ban forced tobacco-lovers outside.

Good for her.

I curse all liberals who have forced this kind hearted lady to the out of doors to enjoy her habit. I will blame all of you stinking liberals if she eventually dies of a cold, flu or something.

Evil liberals, you should all be ashamed of the evil work that you do.

Nice Words Much Appreciated

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Well I have been doing this blog thing officially for about a month now. I have been thinking about how to do it for about a year now. So I took some time to get started. So I’m slow. There, I said it. Happy! I had to evaluate what it took to do this blogging thing and if I was going to be able to commit to it.

Well obviously I have decided to do it.

Keeping up with it has been a little depressing in that I did not start off with a bang and start getting at least 100k visitors a day. You know like the Blogfather, Glenn Reynolds. So maybe I over estimated that part. Luckily it is not the reason I got into this.

The main reason I got in to this blogging thing was because I got frustrated with expressing my feelings to the TV and feeling like no one was listening. Turns out no one was. So at least with this blog I can journalize my thoughts and opinions, otherwise gone unheard and undocumented, and look back upon them one day and laugh with embarrassment. The attention of others is a nice side-effect.

So when I popped over to Mark A. Kilmer’s site this evening and saw the nice words he had to say about me. Here they are:

Keith D. Milby offers us Keith D. Milby :: blogs. Good commentary, good sources. From the right, it is also on the A-1 blogroll.

Here is the entire post.

I must say, I was moved to see that someone, that I know only via reading his blog and reading RedState.org, had written those words about me. This is the same guy that I link to over at RedState.org every Sunday for my Sunday Carnival of Posts.

This is someone who can obviously string a bunch of words together in a way that really make since and can be understood. Something I aspire to be able to do much better as time goes on.

So I am probably making too much of a big deal out of this, as I have a tendency of doing, but they were nice to read in any case. Now I will have to work hard to at least live/write up to them. Thanks goodness for spell check and Writing for Dummies.

Thanks Mark!
Many Visits Be Upon You.
