Radical Muslim Cleric Lied to Qualify for U.S.-Funded College Scholarship

Monday, April 12th, 2010

The American Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, considered by some to be one of the most wanted terrorists behind Usama bin Laden, was educated in the United States with taxpayers money, an ongoing Fox News investigation has found.

Awlaki, now believed to be recruiting for Al Qaeda from hiding in Yemen, is connected to at least two recent suspected terrorism cases – the Fort Hood attack and the attempted Christmas Day jet bombing.

A former diplomatic security agent who was tasked with investigating Awlaki immediately after the Sept. 11 attacks told Fox News that the Yemeni-American national lied on his visa application to attend Colorado State University, where he studied engineering. Rather than tell U.S. immigration officials that he was born in Las Cruces, N.M., in 1971, Awlaki stated that the was foreign born, the security agent, Ray Fournier, said.

Postcard From Zimbabwe

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Here’s a measure of how President Robert Mugabe is destroying this once lush nation of Zimbabwe:

In a week of surreptitious reporting here (committing journalism can be a criminal offense in Zimbabwe), ordinary people said time and again that life had been better under the old, racist, white regime of what was then called Rhodesia.

Shame on WikiLeaks: Framing Lawful Engagement as Anti-American Propaganda (Part One)

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

War is a dirty affair where innocents die and evil men sometimes triumph.

The intensity and uncertainly of combat is increasingly caught on camera, as embedded journalists and combatants themselves capture images and video of the brutality. Even in an age where the fake violence of the video game and the cinema have desensitized many of us to imagined carnage, real images of war can still strike us like the bitter steel of a bayonet. This is especially true in circumstances where we are guided by politically motivated players — in not-so-subtle ways — to view a jarring slice of the horror of war presented through a flawed and incomplete prism.

Shame on WikiLeaks: Framing Lawful Engagement as Anti-American Propaganda (Part Two)

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

WikiLeaks has declared that American forces engaged with armed elements of the Mahdi Army during the 2007 surge are guilty of “collateral murder.”

Part of that claim is based upon the fact that two Reuters employees, embedded with a band of armed militants, were destroyed by 30mm cannon fire from Apache helicopters. The Apaches were providing support for ground forces that had been under sporadic rifle and RPG fire throughout the morning. Wikileaks would have us hold the pilots responsible for not discerning the armed militiamen from the identically dressed Reuters employees that so comfortably moved with them.

Homicide Bombers Kill 37 on Moscow Subway

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Two female homicide bombers blew themselves up on Moscow’s subway system as it was jam-packed with rush-hour passengers Monday, killing at least 37 people and wounding 102, officials said.

The head of Russia’s main security agency said preliminary investigation places the blame on rebels from the restive Caucasus region that includes Chechnya, where separatists have fought Russian forces since the mid-1990s.

The first explosion took place just before 8 a.m. at the Lubyanka station in central Moscow. The station is underneath the building that houses the main offices of the Federal Security Service, or FSB, the KGB’s main successor agency.

Obama Thanks U.S. Troops for Sacrifice as Force in Afghanistan Grows

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

President Obama told U.S. troops in Afghanistan Sunday that America did not ask to be at war there, but he has ratched up the fight to make sure the Taliban and Al Qaeda can not experience a resurgence that would threaten U.S. national security.

In a surprise visit to the country, Obama included a visit to Bagram Airfield to thank the troops for their commitment in a terror fight that has now lasted eight and a half years and is witnessing an escalation of nearly 30,000 more U.S. troops to the country to face down increasingly engaged Taliban fighters.

U2 eye-in-the-sky spy plane wins new lease of life in Afghanistan

Friday, March 26th, 2010

The U2 spy aircraft, famed for high-altitude Cold War espionage missions over the Soviet Union, is enjoying a new lease of life in Afghanistan as the best spotter of Taleban roadside bombs in the allies’ arsenal.

Four years ago the Pentagon wanted to retire the aircraft, which took its first test flight more than half a century ago. Since being fitted with new sensors and communications equipment, however, it has become an indispensable eye-in-the-sky for Nato forces.

From its 70,000ft (21,000m) cruising altitude its high-resolution camera is capable of spotting slight changes in the country’s dry mud paths where the Taleban often bury improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Judge Orders Release of Gitmo Detainee With Ties to 9/11 Attacks

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

A suspected Al Qaeda organizer once called “the highest value detainee” at Guantanamo Bay was ordered released by a federal judge in an order issued Monday.

Mohamedou Ould Slahi was accused in the 9/11 Commission report of helping recruit Mohammed Atta and other members of the Al Qaeda cell in Hamburg, Germany, that took part in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Military prosecutors suspected Slahi of links to other Al Qaeda operations, and considered seeking the death penalty against him while preparing possible charges in 2003 and 2004.

Internet Monitors Tracked ‘Jihad Jane’ Colleen LaRose for Three Years

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

While the rest of America was stunned to hear that a suburban Pennsylvania woman allegedly used the Internet identity of Jihad Jane and tried to join militant jihadists, for a group of ‘Net vigilantes it was old news.

In fact, at least one of the Web sleuths claims to have alerted the feds to Colleen LaRose’s alleged efforts to raise money and recruit fighters for Islamic terrorists and to carry out her own jihad.

Mission accomplished, indeed

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

RONALD REAGAN liked to say that there was no limit to what a man could accomplish if he didn’t mind who got the credit. The transformation of Iraq from a hellish tyranny into a functioning democracy will be recorded as a signal accomplishment of George W. Bush’s presidency, and he probably doesn’t mind in the least that the Obama administration would like to take the credit.

This week’s parliamentary elections in Iraq brought 12 million voters to the polls – a remarkable 62 percent turnout, notwithstanding a wave of Election Day bombings that killed 38 people.

Officers: Pakistan arrests American-born al-Qaida

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday, the same day Adam Gadahn appeared in a video urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country.

The arrest of Gadahn is a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan, criticized in the past for being an untrustworthy ally, is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi, including the movement’s No. 2 commander.

May this traitor never live another day with peace in his evil heart.

Obama advisers set to recommend military tribunals for alleged 9/11 plotters

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

President Obama’s advisers are nearing a recommendation that Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, be prosecuted in a military tribunal, administration officials said, a step that would reverse Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.’s plan to try him in civilian court in New York City.

The president’s advisers feel increasingly hemmed in by bipartisan opposition to a federal trial in New York and demands, mainly from Republicans, that Mohammed and his accused co-conspirators remain under military jurisdiction, officials said. While Obama has favored trying some alleged terrorists in civilian courts as a symbol of U.S. commitment to the rule of law, critics have said military tribunals are the appropriate venue for those accused of attacking the United States.

Shhhhh, Don’t Tell Anyone — The Patriot Act Was Reauthorized – Andy McCarthy

Friday, February 26th, 2010

After a lot of huffing and puffing, about the need to add more civil liberties protections to a law already teeming with them, the Democrat-controlled Senate quietly voted to extend the three Patriot Act provisions that would have expired without reauthorization. Although beating back Patriot and its sensible national security provisions has been a rallying cry for the Left, Senate Democrats agreed to a clean reauthorization on a voice-vote. The New York Times managed just a paragraph, culled from the AP wire, to report the extension. Why so quiet? There are a couple of reasons, I suspect, and Michelle Malkin — ever on the case — gives us both of them.

BYE-BYE, BABYLON – New York Post

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

OUR effort in Iraq passed a major milestone today: Our troops are leaving the cities.

Advisers remain in place. Joint patrols will still occur. And our forces will wait nearby to respond to Iraqi calls for support. But the last of the bases and US-only outposts within Iraq’s urban centers will be vacated.

Saddam, U.S. Lawwmakers, Trip, Iraq

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

US: Saddam Paid for Lawmakers’ Iraq Trip

Saddam Hussein’s intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

An indictment unsealed in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti, a member of a Michigan nonprofit group, of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam’s regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary.

At the time, the Bush administration was trying to persuade Congress to authorize military action against Iraq.

The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. None was charged and Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said investigators “have no information whatsoever” any of them knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.

Nothing surprising here. I long felt McDermott should be tried for treason.

Drudge Report for Shame

Friday, February 29th, 2008

In ref. to The Drudge Report revealing for all the world to know, that Prince Harry was serving in a combat role in Afghanistan.

After reading this post via this post I have to agree that it was not good for Drudge to have used his great reach to expose such a secret.

It would be one thing for Drudge to have done this if the Prince were in a rehab center, but he was serving in combat. Not only did this put the Prince in danger but all of the troops he was serving with.

So maybe next time, Drudge could be a little more considerate.

Don Surber Reminds Us

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

He reminds us of what democrats have said and probably what they wish the could take back. Well maybe some of them at least. Maybe.

I only hope history reminds everyone of the sorry state the democrats put themselves. Voting and saying at every turn anything and everything against the country, the military and its sitting President. For this I hope they pay.

‘The surge has not worked and will not work.’

Bush is not Stupid

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

…but I think the media is for thinking he and his administration is.

It has been clear from the very beginning, even before he was sworn in, that the media was doing every thing they could to make Bush and his administration look incompetent. From his very election that they still see as illegitimate. How he handled 9-11, the aftermath, The Afghan War, The Iraq War, Katrina, the floods, the fires, the everything. I think quite the opposite has taken place. Just look at how much the media has lost in reputation since 2000.

From the beginning I think Bush realized the media was never going to be on his side. That no matter what he said or what he did, the media had an agenda and they were going to stick to it. Bush could have brought about world peace. The media would find away to fault him for it on in the very least not give him credit.

So I think when history is written by the historians long after I am gone. It will finally be realized that this was a time of a great leader and how he contributed to a revolution in the world and in the media. A media that was so corrupt on perceived power it brought about their down fall and the birth of a new media that was controlled by everyone and no one.

Anti-War Films Bomb

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

As film makers try to portray the Iraq War in the way they see it. America as the bad guys and the enemy we face as the good guys. These films will continue to fail. Probably the only place these films will do well is with our enemy or in countries who are hostile with our success.

Plenty of great heroic stories have come out of this conflict. Unfortunately these heroic stories do no fit these film makers misguided agendas. Every was in history has had ugly moments, just as every family has skeletons. Only the sick and twisted would prefer to dwell on the ugly parts as opposed to put it behind them and accentuate the positive.

Of course it will only take one good movie to portray a heroic story, of which there are many, and then greedy Hollywood will be all over it to cash in on it. The one true moral Hollywood has, is whatever makes them the most little green rectangles.

Good News in Iraq

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

With hundreds of Iraqis returning to the country and with Muslims and Christians working hand in hand for mutually assured happiness, one might think that peace is coming to the middle east. If this keeps up and keeps improving, the media might finally be forced to recognize it.

The latest democrat spin is that this is the deadliest year so far in Iraq without ever mentioning the facts on the ground and the improvements that are taking place. democrats will stop at nothing to win defeat in Iraq.

Sad Bastards…

Democrats and Waterboarding

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Democrats and Waterboarding is nothing more than a political issue. If they feel so strongly about the issue then maybe they should simply pass a law explicitly making the practice illegal.

They won’t because they realize the importance of not binding our hands more than they already are in an effort against an enemy that would not hesitate to do thing much worse.

They won’t do it also because hypocrisy is their middle name.

Mission Accomplished

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I heard Dennis Miller talking about this the other day on the radio. The Mission Accomplished thing aboard the aircraft carrier that the President appeared in front of. The one that the democrats and the media made such a big deal out of. And continued to harp on.

This whole thing was was intended to express the mission was accomplished for the sailors aboard the ship, not what the democrats and their willing accomplices in the media tried to make it. That the War in Iraq was accomplished. Even though President Bush made it clear we still had a long hard slog to finish the job.

I can only hope that the media will one day look back on this with shame. I am not holding my breath though.
