Advice to Mugabe: Stop Digging

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Someone, I am not sure who, said something along the lines of “if you find you have dug yourself in a hole, stop digging”. That is some advice Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe should heed. But it does not seem he will. He believes that simply printing more of his worthless cash will solve his problems or at least hold off the mobs of people, that are suffering under unbelievable hyperinflation, from getting a rope and stringing him up from the highest tree.

Zimbabwe’s Leader Says He’ll Print More Cash

The official Herald newspaper reported that Mugabe told a meeting of local council members that they should put more pressure on government ministers to improve services.

“Where money for projects has not been found, we will print it,” Mugabe was quoted as saying.

The printing of money is generally regarded as a recipe for inflation — which is officially at 4,500 percent in Zimbabwe, though private economists estimate it to be at least twice that high. The government last month ordered sweeping price cuts of about 50 percent, accusing store owners and businesses of fueling the inflation.

It is a shame to see so many people in the world suffering under ruthless dictators, elitist, theocrats and the like, while world bodies like the worthless United Nations sit around and ring their hands and do nothing. With the exception of course of letting thugs like these have chairs on commissions like human rights.

Maybe Iran and Syria are starting to get their Due?

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I sure hope so.

From the Washington Note: Did
the President Declare “Secret War” Against Syria and Iran?

“Washington intelligence, military and foreign policy circles are abuzz today
with speculation that the President, yesterday or in recent days, sent a secret Executive
Order to the Secretary of Defense and to the Director of the CIA to launch military
operations against Syria and Iran.

The President may have started a new secret, informal war against Syria and Iran
without the consent of Congress or any broad discussion with the country.”

I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Human Rights Watch Proves Their Worthlessness

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

From their website comes this on the report of Saddam’s death:

“Human Rights Watch has for more than 15 years documented the human rights crimes committed by Hussein’s former government, and has campaigned to bring the perpetrators to justice. These crimes include the killing of more than 100,000 Iraqi Kurds in Northern Iraq as part of the 1998 Anfal campaign.
“Saddam Hussein was responsible for massive human rights violations, but that can’t justify giving him the death penalty, which is a cruel and inhuman punishment,” said Richard Dicker, director of Human Rights Watch’s International Justice Program.”

It is probably me, but I just don’t get it.

The Cable Nets Do Saddam

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

When I went looking around the cable net’s web sites this fine evening, I noticed they all had their splash pages up with the news of Saddam’s deserving demise.

I decided to rank them according to which one gave the best send off to the bastard.

Coming in third, CNN actually seems to memorialize the former “Butcher of Baghdad” with this front page splash:

CNN_Saddam.JPG

Well of course they had a good working relationship in the early days of the slaughtering.UPDATED: Michelle Malkin has more along the lines of CNN’s tribute ot Saddam.

MSNBC comes in second with something closer to what he was deserving:

FOX News makes my first place honors with something absolutely fitting of this horrible soul:

Notice the skull and bones in the background. That is what put it over the top for me.It is also funny that this is about the same order the cable nets are in the ratings. I wonder if that is a coincidence.

Hugo Chavez Speaking for the Kooks on the Left

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

The left in this country should feel proud they have a voice speaking for them at the disfunctional United Nations.

Venezuela: What To Expect From The Left

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

In the following article is what one can expect to receive when one lets the Left/Liberal/Socialist/Communist
have power over society.

From the BBC: Venezuela
to seize golf courses

The mayor of Venezuela’s capital Caracas says he plans to expropriate two exclusive
golf courses and use the land for homes for the city’s poor.

Mayor Juan Barreto has said playing golf on lavish courses within sight of the
city’s slums is “shameful”.

Mr Barreto, an ally of President Hugo Chavez, has been trying to address
a dramatic housing shortage in Caracas
.

Why not try and put them to work and giving them a descent chance of doing for themselves.

Remember Chavez is a Hero of Cindy Sheehan.

Iran Plays the World for Fools

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

From the Washington Post: Iran Wants Immediate Talks but No Freeze

Iran offered yesterday to enter into immediate and “serious” negotiations on a broad range of issues with the Bush administration and its European allies but refused to abide by a U.N. Security Council demand that it suspend work at its nuclear facilities by the end of the month.

Tehran’s proposal came in response to an offer in June by the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China for talks on the country’s nuclear program, and the possibility of future cooperation, if the Islamic republic would first agree to suspend its uranium enrichment work.

Iran certainly knows the effective rate of United Nations Security Counsel resolutions and it knows how to play them for the fools they have become. I am sure they realize that they will have no problem dragging this whole thing out until January 2009, when President Bush leaves office. I am sure they are hoping for a democrat like good ol’ Jimmy Carter to take his place. I am certainly hoping that does not happen.

Hey, Iraq played those suckers like banjos for 12 years, they probably figure they can continue this for at least 2 more years.

Final thought: It just occurred to me, could this be yet another elaborate scheme by Karl Rove to take the ‘06 and ‘08 elections and put the democrats deeper in the hole they continue to dig for themselves. I would not put it past him.

Amnesty Intl - Blame Israel First

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

From the Financial Times: Amnesty urges UN to probe Israel strategy

Amnesty International says attacks on civilian targets by Israeli military forces during the recently ended fighting in Lebanon look like deliberate war crimes.

In a report released on Wednesday, the London-based human rights organisation argues that the destruction of Lebanese homes and basic infrastructure “was an integral part of the military strategy”.

Noting violations by both sides, Amnesty says it has asked the United Nations to open a “comprehensive, independent and impartial inquiry” about the 34-day war between Israel and the Lebanese-based Hizbollah militia.

The losses inflicted by Israeli forces were not just “collateral damage” under the accepted rules of war, according to Amnesty.

How can anyone respect what Amnesty International has to say. After reading this article and the actual news release from their web site I can honestly say, I have as much respect for them, that I have for the United Nations. Pathetic!

Both Amnesty International and the United Nations are driving full speed ahead to irrelevancy. The sooner the better. Then maybe some other organization will step up and be effective in doing the job they are suppose too.

Good news From Iraq

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Nice article from
USA Today
:

BAGHDAD — The Humvee has barely rolled to a stop, and Iraqi army Col. Talib Abdul
Razzaq is already out of the vehicle.

He moves like a politician, stopping on the sidewalk to playfully cuff a young
boy on the head and joke with a man selling shoes. He quizzes several people about
violence and militias in the neighborhood. Most say the streets have been quiet.

“I’m trying to make people believe in the Iraqi army,” Razzaq says at the next
stop, where a sidewalk vendor gives him a complimentary sandwich from his cart. “They
will feel more safe.” Razzaq hands the sandwich to an aide and keeps moving.

Twice a day, Razzaq patrols the troubled neighborhoods in his battalion’s sector
of Baghdad. He’s checking on his troops, who have set up checkpoints in the area.
And he’s listening to what merchants, local leaders and ordinary people have to say
about security in their neighborhoods.

Sounds like a guy I would follow and respect. Hope they find more like him.

London Manages to Charge those Terrorists

Monday, August 21st, 2006

From Sky News: Charges
Over Terror Plot

Eleven suspects in the alleged UK airport terror plot have been charged - as police
revealed they had found bomb-making equipment and martyrdom videos.

They said eight people had been charged with conspiracy to murder and preparing
acts of terrorism.

Three other suspects are charged with other offences under the Terrorism Act.
One of these is a 17-year-old.

Let’s just hope they will be able to convict them.

Palestinians Elect Terrorists

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

From AP: Palestinian
PM, Cabinet Resigns After Hamas Victory

RAMALLAH, West Bank — Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia and his Cabinet
ministers submitted their resignations Thursday as the Islamic militant group Hamas
appeared to have captured a large majority of seats in the Palestinian elections —
a shocking upset sure to throw Mideast peacemaking into turmoil.

“This is the choice of the people. It should be respected,” Qureia said. “If it’s
true (the results), then the president should ask Hamas to form a new government.
For me, personally, I sent my resignation.”

Under the law, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas must ask the largest party in
the new parliament — presumably Hamas — to form the next government. Abbas was elected
separately a year ago and remains president.

With this terrorist outfit in power now in Palestine, how could anything go wrong.

This seems like the perfect example of the insane in charge of the insane asylum.
