OUR effort in Iraq passed a major milestone today: Our troops are leaving the cities.
Advisers remain in place. Joint patrols will still occur. And our forces will wait nearby to respond to Iraqi calls for support. But the last of the bases and US-only outposts within Iraq’s urban centers will be vacated.

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008US: Saddam Paid for Lawmakers’ Iraq Trip
Saddam Hussein’s intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
An indictment unsealed in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti, a member of a Michigan nonprofit group, of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam’s regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary.
At the time, the Bush administration was trying to persuade Congress to authorize military action against Iraq.
The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. None was charged and Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said investigators “have no information whatsoever” any of them knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.
Nothing surprising here. I long felt McDermott should be tried for treason.

Drudge Report for Shame
Friday, February 29th, 2008In ref. to The Drudge Report revealing for all the world to know, that Prince Harry was serving in a combat role in Afghanistan.
After reading this post via this post I have to agree that it was not good for Drudge to have used his great reach to expose such a secret.
It would be one thing for Drudge to have done this if the Prince were in a rehab center, but he was serving in combat. Not only did this put the Prince in danger but all of the troops he was serving with.
So maybe next time, Drudge could be a little more considerate.
Andrew Olmsted Killed In Iraq
Friday, January 4th, 2008Major Andrew Olmsted was killed in Iraq serving his country. He had a friend publish this post in that event.
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to his family.
Man this made me sad. I did not even know of him but now I will never forget him.
Don Surber Reminds Us
Thursday, November 22nd, 2007He reminds us of what democrats have said and probably what they wish the could take back. Well maybe some of them at least. Maybe.
I only hope history reminds everyone of the sorry state the democrats put themselves. Voting and saying at every turn anything and everything against the country, the military and its sitting President. For this I hope they pay.
Anti-War Films Bomb
Sunday, November 11th, 2007As film makers try to portray the Iraq War in the way they see it. America as the bad guys and the enemy we face as the good guys. These films will continue to fail. Probably the only place these films will do well is with our enemy or in countries who are hostile with our success.
Plenty of great heroic stories have come out of this conflict. Unfortunately these heroic stories do no fit these film makers misguided agendas. Every was in history has had ugly moments, just as every family has skeletons. Only the sick and twisted would prefer to dwell on the ugly parts as opposed to put it behind them and accentuate the positive.
Of course it will only take one good movie to portray a heroic story, of which there are many, and then greedy Hollywood will be all over it to cash in on it. The one true moral Hollywood has, is whatever makes them the most little green rectangles.

Good News in Iraq
Thursday, November 8th, 2007With hundreds of Iraqis returning to the country and with Muslims and Christians working hand in hand for mutually assured happiness, one might think that peace is coming to the middle east. If this keeps up and keeps improving, the media might finally be forced to recognize it.
The latest democrat spin is that this is the deadliest year so far in Iraq without ever mentioning the facts on the ground and the improvements that are taking place. democrats will stop at nothing to win defeat in Iraq.
Sad Bastards…
Mission Accomplished
Thursday, October 18th, 2007I heard Dennis Miller talking about this the other day on the radio. The Mission Accomplished thing aboard the aircraft carrier that the President appeared in front of. The one that the democrats and the media made such a big deal out of. And continued to harp on.
This whole thing was was intended to express the mission was accomplished for the sailors aboard the ship, not what the democrats and their willing accomplices in the media tried to make it. That the War in Iraq was accomplished. Even though President Bush made it clear we still had a long hard slog to finish the job.
I can only hope that the media will one day look back on this with shame. I am not holding my breath though.
